 Aroma profile: Melon, lemony, lime with herbal spice

  • Dual purpose aroma hop

  • Alpha Acids: 7.7-9%

  • Beta Acids: 6.4-7.0%

Released from Washington State University in 2013. Slightly higher alpha average than Cascade with double the humulene levels. It’s a cross of Cascade and English hops and Brewers gold.

 Aroma profile: Resinous, apricot, grapefruit

  • Bittering hop with some Aroma for dry hopping.

  • Alpha Acids: 10-14%

  • Beta Acids: 3.0-4.0%

From a cross between Petham Golding and a USDA-selected male with high alpha-acids and good storage properties

Cascade

 Aroma profile: fruity, citrusy, herbal/Floral

  • Dual purpose aroma hop

  • Alpha Acids: 4.5-7.0%

  • Beta Acids: 5.0-7.0%

Cascade was released in 1972. It was first commercially accepted American-bred aroma hop with a relatively low bittering value. It’s a cross between the Fuggle and Russian hop Serebrianka. It is one of the most popular hops for craft brewing and is great for dry hopping.

Glacier

 Aroma profile: cedar, fruity, herbal

  • Dual purpose aroma hop

  • Alpha Acids: 3.3-9.7%

  • Beta Acids: 5.4-9.7%

Glacier hops add light bittering and aroma with an earthy, slightly floral character and sweet citric edge. Glacier has a low cohumulone level that brews a very smooth beer with balanced bitterness and foam characteristics

Sorachi Ace

 Aroma profile: lemon citrus, orange, dill, cilantro

  • Bittering hop

  • Alpha Acids: 11.5%-16%

  • Beta Acids: 6%-7.5%

Originally produced by the Sapporo Brewery in Hokkaido, Japan in the mid-1980s, it was resurrected in the US in 2006. It is a cross between SaazBrewer’s Goldand BeiKei No. 2. It can be considered an all-purpose hop that is used where a strong bright lemony character is desired.
